Aurelia, the golden one.
Where our name comes from, and what we put it on.
A name from Rome
Aurelia is the feminine form of Aurelius, a Roman family name taken from the Latin aureus: golden. Roman writers linked it to an older Sabine word for the sun.
Aurelia Cotta, the mother of Julius Caesar, carried the name. So did the emperor Marcus Aurelius, two centuries later. The aureus itself was Rome's gold coin, which is why our seal is drawn like one.
The lettering around it reads Aurelia, aureus (golden), argentum (silver) and CMXXV, the Roman numeral for 925.
Gold in the name, silver in the hand
Every piece we sell is 925 sterling silver. Some are left polished and bright. Others are plated in gold, rose gold or platinum tone, and many are set with cubic zirconia, freshwater pearls or enamel.
The collection covers rings, earrings, bracelets and necklaces, from slim stacking bands and small studs to tennis bracelets and statement rings.

Caring for silver
Sterling silver darkens with time and air. A little care keeps it bright.
- Storing
- Keep each piece dry and on its own, in a pouch or a lined box. Air and humidity are what darken silver.
- Wearing
- Put jewellery on after perfume, lotion and hairspray, and take it off before swimming, bathing or exercise.
- Cleaning
- Wipe with a soft, dry cloth after wearing. For tarnish, use a silver polishing cloth.
- Plated finishes
- Gold, rose gold and platinum tone finishes are a surface layer. Clean them gently with a soft cloth and avoid abrasive polishes.
